Richards Room Refurbished – plus new projector and PA system

  • by

It started at the beginning of the year … when the original parquet floor lifted in several places!

We then had a very generous donation from Martlesham Community Council, to replace the room floor and the flooring in the ladies and gents toilets. We decided to fully refurbish the room, whilst it wasn’t being used during lockdown. So we repainted the walls and replaced the ceiling tiles and store cupboard doors.

Hopefully, you like what you see; we’re certainly pleased with the results. We’ve already had good feedback from our regular hirers, now the room is fully open for hire again.

However, that’s not all. We were fortunate in getting a Bounce Back Fund grant from East Suffolk Council, which paid for us to install a projector and PA (public address) system. Both can be driven wirelessly from laptop PCs, tablets and smartphones, for safety and convenience.

The projector and PA system, like the Wi-fi Internet access, are available to all hirers and their guests within the room hire cost. Indeed – we’ve frozen our hire charges at 2020 prices until at least next Spring.

Our thanks to Martlesham Community Council for their donation and to East Suffolk Council for their grant, enabling us to refurbish the room to a high standard.
